Information we collect

When you browse the site, create an account, place an order, contact us or subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect information such as your name, email address, telephone number, date of birth, billing and delivery address, order details, account credentials and messages you send us. We also receive limited technical information such as device, browser and activity information that is needed to operate, secure and improve the website.

Age verification

Because alcohol may only be purchased by people aged 19 or older in Ontario, we ask account holders for their date of birth. This information is stored privately with the account and is not displayed publicly.

How we use information

We use personal information to process and deliver orders, provide customer support, manage accounts, verify eligibility, prevent fraud and abuse, meet legal and regulatory obligations, and improve our products and website. Where you choose to subscribe, we also use your name and email address to send DOC Wine Imports news and offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

Newsletter subscriptions

Newsletter signup information is sent to Mailchimp, our email-service provider, so that it can deliver the emails you have agreed to receive. Our newsletter popup uses a salted, one-way hash derived from an IP address and timestamps to control how often the popup appears; the feature does not retain the raw IP address for that purpose.

Payments, delivery and service providers

We share information only when it is reasonably necessary to operate the shop and fulfil your order. This can include our payment provider, delivery partners, website and hosting providers, email-service provider and professional advisers, as well as authorities when required by law. Payment information is handled by the payment provider used at checkout; DOC Wine Imports does not store full payment-card details on this website.
