The producer
Rooted in Galafura, Peso da Régua, the Ayres de Mattos family traces its winemaking lineage in the Douro Demarcated Region back to the 17th century.
Formally established as a winegrowing and bottling estate in 1986 under the name Aida Coimbra Ayres de Mattos e Filhos, the company operates across 60 hectares of sustainably farmed, mechanized vineyards in the Baixo Corgo sub-region.
Operating under a strict grower-bottler (vitivinicultor-engarrafador) philosophy, Coimbra de Mattos produces high-quality DOC Douro still wines and classic Port wines exclusively from their family estates, such as Quinta dos Mattos and Quinta da Valada.
Their approach balances centuries of ancestral knowledge with modern viticulture to express the true, uncompromised character of Douro terroir.
