Costa Boal

Led by António Boal, a descendant of a long line of winegrowers in the Douro and Trás-os-Montes regions, Costa Boal was created to celebrate the distinct heritage of northern Portugal’s cool-climate and high-altitude terroirs.

Managing prized estates across both regions, including Quinta dos Frades in the Douro and vineyard sites in Mirandela, the producer focuses on low-yield, old-vine parcels planted on schist and granite soils.

Guided by winemaker Paulo Nunes, Costa Boal’s production philosophy centers on minimal intervention, balance, and precision, allowing native grape varieties to express their authentic origin.

Through flagship lines such as Flor de Boal, Costa Boal, and rare vintage selections, the estate produces elegant, structured wines designed for longevity and gastronomy.
