The estate’s vineyards sit at elevations ranging from 500 to 700 meters on classic schist and granite soils, benefitting from significant diurnal temperature shifts that preserve natural acidity, freshness, and aromatic intensity.

Guided by a philosophy of environmental stewardship and sustainable farming, the winery nurtures both old vines and indigenous grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Códega do Larinho.

Combining traditional lagar fermentation techniques with modern temperature control, Quinta dos Castelares produces elegant, structured DOC Douro wines and Ports that showcase the wild, high-altitude character of their remote eastern Douro origin.
